Google plans to introduce satellite connectivity in its next Android update, which could be next year’s Android 14. Google SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer announced the new Android development on his official Twitter feed and said he’s excited to build Android for satellite and help our partners get it all working for the next version of Android enable.

The announcement comes as Apple unveils its first satellite-enabled iPhone 14 on September 7 at its Apple event. Google doesn’t want to leave its main rival in satellite connectivity technology behind, and is ready to lock in the horns.
Although Lockheimer did not provide any details on this. If it’s a software update, it can be pushed to an older smartphone via a software update to make it satellite-enabled as well. But for now, not much can be said until more details emerge.
