MLB Home Run Derby 2022: Julio Rodriguez upsets champion Pete Alonso and reaches final in Los Angeles

Major League Baseball’s 2022 Home Run Derby will take place in Los Angeles on Monday night on the eve of the 92nd All-Star Game.

Eighth seed Albert Pujols beat No. 1 seed Kyle Schwaber in overtime for the biggest upset of the first round.

Puyols hit 20 home runs, seven of them in overtime. He never took a shot over 440 feet, but he played well enough to average 406 feet per home run

Seattle Mariners slugger Julio Rodriguez, a 21-year-old rookie, hit 32 homers in the first round and 31 in the second, beating the Two-time defending Mets champion Pete Alonso.

In the opening round, the 42-year-old Albert Pujols beat top seed Kyle Schwaber in the tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals against Juan Soto.
