OnePlus Nord to foray in the wearable market, set to launch a new smartwatch in India

OnePlus Nord has announced its entry into the smartwatch space and will soon launch its first wearable in the Indian market. According to reports, the Nord smartwatch is expected to launch in India next month, most likely in the first week of October. “Nord Watch will strengthen the OnePlus Nord’s position in the wearables space, aiming to bring the iconic technology to a wider audience,” the company said in a statement. With the launch of Nord, Nord has entered the entry-level segment of hearing aid Buds, Nord Buds CE and Nord wired headphones.

OnePlus Nord’s foray into the smartwatch category comes as India’s share of the global wearable bracelet market reaches an all-time high of 15% of 6.3 million units in Q2 2022. According to market research firm Canalys, India remains in third place behind China and the US in terms of total portable tape shipments, with its share reaching 15% for the first time.

During the quarter, 30% of models in the Indian market were priced below $50, with major local brands launching low-cost models, lowering barriers to entry for consumers,” Counterpoint Research said.
