Presidential Election 2022: Manmohan Singh, in a wheelchair, votes in the presidential election

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, 89, is in a wheelchair as he prepares to vote in the 2022 presidential election. Singh has been under the radar since he tested positive for the coronavirus last year due to health reasons.

He was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in October 2021 due to fever and dizziness. The former prime minister contracted COVID-19 at the height of the second coronavirus pandemic last year.

A secret ballot to elect the new Indian president was held today in national and state legislatures.

Former Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu is the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate who is set to win the election, while her opposition rival is Yashwant Sinha.

Samajwadi party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav also voted in a wheelchair. Yadav, 82, has been ill for some time and has been in and out of the hospital with various ailments over the past year.
